L2 ENGINEERING air tools

Complete a blog post on air tools .

Rough outline

1.What are Pneumatic tools / air compressors? Diagram examples of compressors and an explanation. Show a range of different air compressors you might come across.

A pneumatic tool is one that's driven with the assistance of compressed air rather than electricity.

Reciprocating compressor or piston compressor is a positive-displacement compressor that uses pistons driven by a crankshaft to deliver gases at high pressure.

Rotary screw

is a type of gas compressor, such as an air compressor, that uses a rotary-type positive-displacement mechanism.

Rotary vane compressors

Rotary vane compressors serve in a variety of welding operations, in the use of air-operated metal and wood working tools, in cylinders used in paper pressing, in many industrial cooling operations, throughout material handling operations, in printing pumps and equipment, and much more.

Scroll compressors.

A scroll compressor is a specially designed compressor that works in a circular motion, as opposed to up-and-down piston action.

Diaphragm compressors.

A diaphragm compressor is a variant of the classic reciprocating compressor with backup and piston rings and rod seal.

2.Safety when using an air compressor. Dangers and hazards , preventive action and servicing.

  • Use gas air compressors outdoor

  • Wear safety goggles and gloves

  • Wear safety glasses

  • Check for oil and air leaks

  • Use a self-retracting cord

3.PPE when using air tools - general

Wear safety glasses or goggles, or a face shield

4.Different types of air tool connections /tools

Industrial interchange

Automotive interchange

ARO interchange

5.Specific safety when using

Impact driver - Tie long hair back or secure under a cap.

Air ratchet - Always wear safety glasses with side protectors when using an impact wrench. Never wear a tie, loose clothing, a watch, rings, or jewelry when using an air-impact wrench. wrench. Only use impact wrench sockets that are specifically designed for this type of tool.
